The Flash Season 3 Finale
The show opens with Barry holding Iris after Savitar has killed her. We see how the rest of the group reacts to her death. Joe of course is all to pieces, he has just lost his baby girl after everything they have been through to save her they still failed. As the group suffered there in the park Barry watched as two drumsticks fell to the ground. He realized at that moment that's Iris was not gone. We get a flash back of how this all came to be. HR feeling guilty had used the piece of Savitars suit to find him and rescue Iris. He succeeded in doing so and used the device to swap their images. So Killer frost took HR captive while Iris escaped. HR showed up with Joe, and Joe didn't understand what was going on until the image of HR faded.
After this moment Barry and the group went back to Star Labs to figure out how they were going to stop Savitar. Especially since the speed force Bazooka didn't work. We also figure out that Savitar, or future Barry was going to splice himself throughout time. He had captured Cisco to rebuild the bazooka into a quantum spliced. Before this could happen Barry wanted to meet Savitar and see if he could get through to him. Of course Barry tried to talk about their past and promise he was going to help him so he wouldn't fade from existence. This however was all a plan for Savitar he wanted to get into Star Labs so he could destroy it. When he was inside of Star Labs he used the power of the philosopher stone to destroy Star Labs.
The final fight of the show would show that Barry could be the hero of this story. He did have help from Jay Garrick and Wally West. While trying to use the quantum splicer it backfired and Savitar failed to be set through time. Savitar tried to attack Cisco but Killer Frost saved him by hitting Savitar with a beam of ice. At that time Barry showed up, with the rest of the group and the fight was on. Barry and Savitar fought and fought. Savitar pushed Barry to kill him, which would push Barry over the edge and he would become Savitar anyway. That didn't happen! Barry destroyed Savitar's suit, and that was the end of Savitar. The next moments would cement Savitar's fate. Barry had turned his back to him and as he did so Future Barry stood up and started to run to attack Barry. As he did so Iris shot him down. And Savitar fell to the ground and disappeared out of existence. The season ends with Team Flash mourning the loss of HR, and Barry going into the speedforce.
Season 3 has many ups and downs, mostly due to the team trying to stop Iris from being murdered. I believe the seasons fall in line from best to worse as they have premiered. Meaning Season 1 so far has been the best while season 2 was great, and season 3 being sub par. The reason for this was the focus on the villain Savitar and finding out what happens to Iris took over. Barry become obsessed with losing her and was unable to change anything. HR had to be killed in order to set things right, and losing that character is going to be tough. He may have not been a super genius like Wells and E2 Harry, but he brought hope to the Team. I believe Season 3 could have been better, but every show has a down season. I can't wait for Season 4! I hope Barry isn't stuck for a while in the Speedforce. I like Wally, but I just don't think the actor has what it takes to carry the show long term. Grant Gustin really doesn't either, but it's the supporting cast behind him that makes the show great.
For this episode I give a 8/10
For the season I give a 7/10
