The first thing I’m going to say about this is I do not follow the Constantine comic like i should, and I also only watched 3 episodes. I have tried to catch up and maybe it’s because I can't relate the show to the comics, I am not 100% sure but it just wasn’t good TV. I mean the character is great don’t get me wrong and the actor for Constantine there just isn't anything better, but I just think the show is on the wrong network! NBC is all about some drama, and statistically that's the only shows that really have a long run. I believe a move to a different network such as SYFY would be good. Maybe put it after a show that already has a big following on SYFY and would keep the viewers around for Constantine.
I mean we all know that DC has the ability to make this a great show, but we really can’t just leave it on a network that was already willing to pull the plug. NBC had ordered a full season, but during the middle of the run, cut the order down to just 13 episodes and left it in the balance. The ratings weren’t that good mostly because it got the Friday slot at 10:00 PM usually isn’t the spot for a new show that needs ratings to stay alive but that’s not my call.
Matt Ryan portrays the character perfectly, and the show was dark, but to me just wasn’t dark enough. When I think of Constantine it should be dark, for example like Marvels Daredevil. It needs a PG-13 rating and that’s the type of network it needs to be on. Maybe even SYFY wouldn’t be able to carry it, maybe they should just hand the reigns over and let Netflix have it and I believe that Constantine would then be successful.
So what the Producers and everyone needs to worry about at this point is could we possibly take Constantine to another network and run the show the way it should be, and hopefully make the Studios happy as well as the long standing fans. I’ve seen this before with shows that should have gotten a second season, such as Dracula on NBC. This show suffered the same way Constantine is now and was eventually canceled all together. Therefore I’m not giving NBC much faith in the matter that we will see Constantine on the small screen anytime soon.
Again thank you all for visiting, all comments and opinions are welcome!
