Supernatural "Thin Lizzie"
This season is all about “The Darkness” so far. We are seeing how “The Darkness” is gaining her power back as she travels around usually to a place that Dean and Sam are visiting to take souls. When she takes a soul it makes her more powerful, so powerful that just in four episodes she has went from a newborn to a Teenager. This is scary power something that Sam and Dean haven’t dealt with before, but the storyline is great so far.
This episode was about the Lizzie Borden murders, you guys know it the serial killer Lizzie Borden she took an ax and chopped up her mom and dad. I am almost positive it was turned into some sort of twisted nursery rhyme. Anyhow they are investigating the original Borden house, which has been since turned into a bed and breakfast/museum.
The first murder is of a young couple that are there doing what all young couples do. Unfortunately for the two of them they were soon to be chopped up by an ax wielding nut. Which falls to Sam and Dean who are looking for jobs to keep busy as the hunt for Amara has gone cold, and Cas is still fighting the spell with a nice dose of Netflix. Which concerns me about Cas he was supposed to have his grace back, and I know the spell is taking a toll on him, but shouldn’t he be back to full power by now? Guess we will wait and see.
Sam and Dean decide to go check out the bed and breakfast just out of curiosity because of the legend behind the murders. When they get there the EMF is reading off the charts in certain areas of the home, but in others there is no reading, almost like an on off switch. So they investigate a bit and find that the whole place is just a tourist attraction to bring in customers.
Sam and Dean soon find themselves in the middle of a murder mystery shortly after their arrival there are 2 murders. The owner and operator of the bed and breakfast Mrs. Kemper and Jordie’s dad are murdered. The murders however happen miles apart.
Sam goes to investigate the family murder, while Dean goes to meet up with Len whose been banished from the property of the bed and breakfast. Dean immediately notices the mark drawn on a piece of paper while he is speaking with Len and starts to ask him where he had seen the symbol and demanded an answer. Len finally broke down and told him he had ran into Amara. That’s right Amara!!! He explained to Dean that he had been at the bed and breakfast before they arrived trying to get pictures of Lizzie’s ghost and he had ran into Amara who was already 12 to 14 years old and he had seen the mark on her shoulder. He then explained to Dean that he had felt different since he had ran into Amara that he was just playing the motions and cared for nothing anymore.
Sam on the other hand didn’t get much from the family. He did get to talk to the babysitter but not much information, and when Jordie’s mother arrived he was forced out. He did notice that she didn’t really care that her husband had been murdered in the driveway or acted like it was upsetting her. At first it was blamed on shock but we will find out what it was really.
Sam and Dean take Len and go back to Jordie’s home leaving Len handcuffed in the car. Before going into Jordie’s home the brothers explain to Len that his soul had been taken and that’s why he was reacting to things the way he is. They go into Jordie’s home to find him tied up and his family killed. The killer was none other than Sydney, the babysitter whose soul was taken by none other than Amara.
She had Sam and Dean tied up and right at the time Sam broke free Sydney is killed. Len had escaped the handcuffs by mangling his hand and losing a thumb to save the boys. Again he says he was just playing through the motions, but you could see that he did what he had to.
So far this season has been great, more monster hunting which we all like. Bringing back the monster of the week well sort of not like seasons 1-5 but I will take it! WE need more broken Sam, more glimpses into a possible future of how the darkness will effect Sam when he finds out about Dean. I guess right now that’s the most intriguing part of how is Sam going to save Dean this time.
Sam and Dean are in for it again, much like the apocalypse season of season 5 dealing with Lucifer. Which hopefully we get to see again soon! I mean just face it Sam with powers is bad ass.
9/10 for this episode just because it was somewhat about Lizzie Borden and it was more back to the monster/serial killer of the week!
---- The show is following a strong storyline with Amara having her in the show and not keeping us guessing so I do like that!
---- Dean still isn’t telling Sam the full story, and keeping secrets just isn’t a good thing for the Winchesters. I thought Sam had made new rules!!?!?!
----Castiel was mentioned again as still healing!! Maybe soon we will get to see Castiel back at full power no longer under the spell. Sam and Dean they’re going to need him when it gets down to crunch time!
