Chapter 6
The sun was rising as Valon's eyes opened, the smell of the slowly dying camp fire filled his nose. For the first time in a while he had been asleep through the night, he felt secure after the attack on Reiel. The men had all went back to their village and Valon was left alone on his journey. Valon had no idea where to go or what to do next, the one thing in the back of his mind was to find out who Tyren was and why he was so hell bent and defending that boy.
Valon threw some dirt on the dying fire kick the rocks in around it, and gathered up his camp. He was covering his tracks, just in case the young prince had gotten smart enough to send someone after him. He watched over his shoulder as he tied his gear to his horse. Watching for movement was he could handle getting attacked, but he couldn't handle an army.
As Valon rode to the next town, he noticed abandoned out posts. Out posts from Reiel's military. He became curious as to why these posts were abandoned, it was important to the King to control traffic through the land. Even though he was curious he kept riding, he didn't want to fall into any traps. With the next town in site, a place where he could eat, gather information and get a nights rest in a bed instead of the ground the fear of being hunted was gone.
He could hear the water running from the nearby stream, and people talking and laughing. A moment of peace filled him, maybe he would have a chance to just escape his world for a few moments.
