While the Joker is Batman’s most iconic villain, I feel like there are to many live action versions as of late. Cast one actor stick with that actor. You can’t take Leto’s performance to heart and just give up on the guy. I can say that I enjoyed his Joker way more than Heath Ledgers. I can also say I enjoyed the Suicide Squad more so than the Nolan/Bale Dark Knight trilogy. Yeah that’s right to you all Bale lovers I didn’t like that trilogy.
Now, if they plan to recast Batman for this movie I may just skip it all together. I know I’ve heard the rumors and I’ve heard Jake Gyllenhaal might end up being Batman/Bruce Wayne! That’s a terrible pick, I mean that’s on the level of Kilmer/Clooney! Why don’t we just put nipples on the bat suit again? I mean if you’re going to hire actors who wouldn’t do the characters justice why even try at all? Everyone has it out for Affleck, and he’s the most comic book accurate portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman. Yet I hear oh he’s to fat or he’s to old.. I don’t understand why I’m hearing the “he’s to old” 46 isn’t old, especially to be playing a Batman who has been fighting crime for 20 years.. that means he started at 26, which is just about accurate with Year one. He may have been a couple years younger in the comic but still this Batman in Justice League and BVS has been inspired again, that what he was doing and is doing could make a difference.
I have nothing against Joaquin Phoenix, I mean he’s an alright actor. I just don’t see him as the Joker is all. Leto fit the body type, and was great for the role as I said above. The one movie I remember Joaquin from is the Johnny Cash movie, and that was some great acting. I haven’t really followed his career but I do remember he retired from acting to make music? I guess that didn’t pan out. In the end though I’ll give him a chance. I’ll see what he brings to the table, and I will make my opinions known at that point!
So now let me get to this part, the back and forth of is it or isn’t it about this “The Batman” Movie! Will it be apart of the DCEU and explain the 20 years of Batman’s past? Or is it going to be apart of that series DC/Warner Brothers wants to release opposite of the DCEU for their characters? I mean yeah either way I’m cool with it, but the fans need to know! There have been plenty of Batman films, but Affleck deserves to be the Batman until he is unable
to continue with the character.
What we can take from this is, Leto will still continue to play the Joker in Suicide Squad 2. So that could mean that this movie will steer clear of the DCEU. Also if Batman is recast we at least know Affleck is signed on for 2 more movies, one more League movie and a solo movie. Personally I like the idea of the Flash Point movie being his exit as Batman, not as Bruce Wayne. Have him around as Bruce, let Batman be Dick Grayson ya know for a while! The last thing is, while the casting of Phoenix seems to be a sure thing, everything else is just speculation and rumor at this point. I will keep you guys updated.
