Black Panther
This review was done with very little spoilers, sorry for that!
Black Panther premiered February 16th 2018 starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B.Jordan, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, and Lupita Nyong’o. The movie also had Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett, Andy Serkis, and Martin Freeman along with Sterling K. Brown. Which to me is a great cast, and the movie was surrounded by a lot of hype. Hype that it unfortunately did not live up to!
The movie of course is another Marvel movie and is expected to do well at the box office, however to me it is in the low tier of the Marvel films. I feel as though we judge movies on their box office results, but really don’t see the films for what they are. This film celebrates Africa and its culture which is amazing to watch on screen. However it fell flat in some areas.
Most of the other characters were apart of the royal army or linked to Tchalla. Such as his sister Shuri, and his mother Ramonda which really didn’t need much introduction because they are who they are. We just seen a lot of characters that I feel like we were supposed to already know.
Honestly that’s the only real problem I had was Killmonger, as I stated the movie isn’t Marvels greatest, but it isn’t far above being its worse film. The action sequences were great, the interactions with his sister and the members of the military and agent Ross were also excellent. One thing this movie does hold over most films is it wasn’t a 2 hour comedy festival. There was some parts to chuckle at, but they fit their scene, it wasn’t like the directors and writers went out of their way to just make you laugh. I feel like this movies Hype will make it some money, but in the end it will fall short of even passing 800 million, it will make a little more than Ant-Man.
There are two end credit scenes which I felt like set up Black Panther 2, and of course Infinity War!
I enjoyed the movie, it was fun and action packed, I guess my issues with the character development are because I’ve never really been a big Black Panther reader. If he’s there in a crossover book he is and if he isn’t ahh well. I do however like Chadwick Boseman as Tchalla/Black Panther, he fits the character well, much like Wesley Snipes with Blade!
I’ll give this movie a 5/10. As I said it was fun and action packed, but some of these characters I was just like ???? Why are they here??? That and the movie felt like it was just dragging along at points. And it was also predictable, mostly because we have seen Tchalla in previews for Infinity War. That and why does Marvel continue to murder their villains? Spider-Man didn’t murder Vulture and that is about the only one? I guess they plan on him being around for a sequel! I hope Black Panther gets a sequel! Can not wait for Infinity War!

- Black Panther or Tchalla becomes the King of Wakanda after his father Tchaka dies in Captain America Civil War is really the most put together character of the whole film. We of course seen him in the Civil War movie but knew very little about him except that he was royalty and was a warrior.
- The second character that I feel like is most put together out of all of them is Klaw, and that isn’t saying much because again we have seen him in Avengers Age of Ultron and that’s it.
