Avengers Age of Ultron was amazing! I was able to see it with the special showing here at the local movie theater. There are just so many things that I could say about this movie. Marvel Studios and Disney has really set the bar high with this one. I mean I’m not saying it’s going to be like the first Avengers, because as a comic book fan I have waited to see the Avengers for years on the big screen, but this movie is a close second if not a tie with Avengers.
We all know the Avengers line up, you have Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the Hulk. They of course are still on the same mission as before when we left them at Avengers, looking for Loki’s scepter and trying to destroy it. Which means they would have to track down Baron Von Strucker to get it back. They do in fact get it back with an attack on Strucker’s army, but they also find two twins, who would later become Quick Silver and Scarlet Witch.
Just giving you a bit of a summarization there of how the first part of the movie happens. As the movie goes on we see the Avengers actually coming together as a family people who get along for more than just saving the world. We see them at Avengers Tower throwing a party and getting along. That doesn’t last long however. Tony Stark (Iron Man) decides for the entire team that it would be in their best interest to start a defense system for the entire world, something that would end the fighting and end them having to be the Avengers.. Sadly not all of Tony’s ideas are the best in the world.
As the party is going on Ultron is being created, and he brought some friends. Ultron doesn’t look to great at first kind of like he was pieced together from different parts of Starks robot team that we see during the attack on Strucker. They look like Iron Man but are drones. So now we have a villain and we see what he wants, and that’s to destroy the world of course, but in doing so splitting the Avengers up and putting them against each other. One of Tony’s best ideas during the entire film however led to the creation of Vision. He is an android that was created in the comics of course by Ultron, but in the movie as I mentioned before he was created by Tony Stark (Iron Man). The Infinity stone known as the Mind Stone in the cinematic universe was placed in Visions possession. Which allowed him the ability to pick up Thor’s hammer. He would end up being a match for Ultron and would help the Avengers quite a bit. Over all a great character!
The action sequences are great in this movie, I mean there are explosions and fighting and it’s just as big as the first movie. The cool thing is this time they’re fighting across the globe not on American soil. I thought that was great because they are really protecting the world and not just New York or America.
The most exciting part for me was the Hulk Buster!! It really couldn’t have been done any better it of course it is a space satellite code named Veronica, because the Hulk knows he can’t be contained. The fight sequence for this was just great. You actually get to see the Hulk Buster go up against the Hulk for the first time in a live action sequence and honestly you couldn’t ask for better.
As all Marvel studio movies there are cameos, such as Stan Lee as himself, but the best one of course and one we have been waiting for since Winter Soldier was Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). Since the incident that destroyed Shield we all have wondered what he has been up to since he left it all in the hands of Phil Coulson. Which I’m still wondering how they are keeping that from the World’s Mightiest Heroes that he is alive and well, and running the organization that pretty much started their team.
Now for the two characters I mentioned above, Scarlet Witch, and Quick Silver. This is where my problem lies with this movie, and I completely understand it’s a brand and licensing issue, but just calling them Enhanced and moving on. I mean it does fit into this story well, but gives the characters no justice at all. We do eventually see Scarlet Witch becoming an Avengers and even though her abilities are a little different then the comic book material, she is pretty great. Quick Silver he’s not as lucky. I won’t go into any more detail in case you haven’t seen the film.
Over all this movie was great for the family, if you have kids, there’s some bad language but nothing horrible. As far as that goes it is PG-13 so I mean it is expected. However this movie is great for Comic book fans as always it gives us everything we need plus more, of course the story, the fight scenes and action sequences coming to life right in front of us. I mean you couldn’t ask for more than that. There is also that sneak peak of Thanos during the credits, not after for all of you that haven’t seen it, again that’s all m going to say!
I would have to give this movie a 9 out of 10 it doesn’t get a 10/10 because of some of the issues I had with the Maximoff twins I know it’s a licensing thing, but still they could have done better for something this big. The one thing you can take from this movie is no matter what these guys are the Avengers, and Clint Barton really does have a place on the team. He’s the guy that actually kept them together and not fighting against each other.
Again just to recap this movie was excellent, and if you haven’t seen it you should I did leave a lot out in the summary of course because I didn’t want to give the entire film away if you haven’t seen it. If you haven’t seen it yet go see it.
