Arrow Season 4 started on 10/7/2015 and so far it is one of the best season premieres that I have seen from this show. The premiere picks up right after the events of the finale of season 3. Oliver and Felicity are living a normal life in the suburbs, while the rest of the gang protect Star City.
Oliver and Felicity are off living the life of a retired superhero and sidekick. This time however they seem to be in love and that seems to be all that matters currently to either of them or so Oliver thought. Oliver is even going as far as wanting to propose to Felicity. Which he doesn’t get to do… thanks to team Arrow.
Diggle, Laurel, and Thea however are protecting Star city in the absence of Oliver and Felicity, and it seems like they are struggling with protecting it. There is a new threat in Star city and he goes by the name of Damien Dark the protige of Ras Al Ghul.
Diggle and the team are trying to stop a group of assassins from stealing weapons off of a Kord Industries Truck. Yes you read that right! Ted Kord has finally made an appearance in Arrow and is now stationed in the DC TV universe. Blue Beetle shouldnt be too far behind. The team ends up interfering but not fully stopping the group they do get away with some weapons. Which we later find out is explosives.
Meanwhile the city leaders are having a meeting, which includes Captain Lance. During this meeting we meet the Damien Dark character and he seems dead set on bringing the city down. He makes a few threats at the group and they leave. After the meeting 3 of the 4 members of the group are taken out, the only one remaining is Captain Lance.
Again at this point Oliver is still living the good life at this point with Felicity in the suburbs having brunch and planning that proposal. After the city leaders are taken out one by one, Thea and Laurel turn to Oliver. They interrupt the moment of him proposing to Felicity to get him to come back to Star City.
Oliver agrees to go back just to help them this one time and he was leaving. That was until he got into the city and seen how far it had fallen. We even see them passing a sign that helps us remember what happened to Ray Palmer at the end of season 3.
It looks as though team Arrow moved their base of operations and downsized from what we are used to seeing, not as many computers or gadgets or anything. Just a couple of computers some tables and a covered up costume display. Which yes did hold the Green Arrow suit.
Oliver went out the first night back with the group without suiting up just to see what they were up against. The group was trying to stop a group of Damien Darks assassins with a surprise attack. Oliver observed as the rest of Team Arrow attacked. You could see by the look Oliver knew exactly what he was up against. Soon after the police arrived Captain Lance noticed Oliver while breaking everything up during his getaway.
The next segment Oliver and Diggle are still at odds not able to trust one another after the events of season 3, but they are managing to work together somewhat. The team was trying to find the bombs or weapons that Dark had stolen. They had no luck with finding the weapons. That night they were able to stop Damien Dark by blowing up the train before it got back to the train station. Oliver and Diggle stopped the train while Thea and Laurel evacuated the station. The team was back together and it was their first win it seemed like in a while.
After this Oliver would decide that it was time for him to stay in Star City, but not as the Arrow but as something else. He was now the Green Arrow. He gave the speech that he was back and ready to do what he needed to protect the people of Star City.
As the show ended we jumped ahead six months in the future. We see Oliver and Barry at a fresh grave site. We didn’t get to see who it was. We did get a clue, Oliver was extremely upset over this which could be anyone with team Arrow. With Barry there however it could be Felicity since she was the only part of team Arrow they had a mutual affiliation with.
This season has started off right and I hope we can continue in the right direction. Felicity wasn’t crying she was keeping secrets from Oliver that she had been helping Diggle and the team since her and Oliver had left Star City. But the action was great, the flashbacks didn’t bore me to tears and made a lot of sense.
*Oliver takes on the mantle of Green Arrow! This is what we have been waiting for the entire series!
*The group kept it together and didn’t disband without Oliver which shows they are willing to continue his crusade.
*Cross overs will be excellent between Barry and Oliver and the two teams of each of the shows.
I give this episode a 10/10!
