On the latest episode of Arrow, Team Arrow was faced with one of their greatest challenges.
The episode started out picking up from where last week had left off. Andy Diggle was gaining the trust of His brother and the rest of Team Arrow to help them bring down Malcom Merlin. Malcom Merlin who has a plan to get Damien Darhk out of prison at Iron Heights. Which involved Andy.
Andy was to give Team Arrow Intel on places that Malcom was going to be at or planning to steal something from. However it seems like Hive and Merlin are one step ahead of Oliver and company when things start to seem to easy. Malcom even attacks the Arrow Cave and takes the idle that was behind hidden from Darhk. Eventually someone had to catch on that Andy was still working with Damien and Malcom. It was just taking everyone but Oliver a lot longer to do so.
Oliver has his suspicions about Andy but tries to keep them to himself to keep the peace with Diggle. Which is a good idea considering Team Arrow needs all the help they can get at this point. Oliver goes as far as confront Andy and while doing so Diggle walks in and forces Oliver out. Oliver also gives the team information about the idle that he had seen it before on the island.
Malcoms plan was to go and take the idle straight to Darhk. Who informs Malcom that the idle is not whole and is of no use to him until the missing piece is found ... Which is why Oliver was questioning Andy. Which I mean the guy has worked for Hive for at least 5 or more years why would they think he could be rehabilitated? Miss placed trust can cost you a lot. In this case pretty much everything.
With Felicity out of the picture Thea is kind of watching the monitors in the Arrow Cave when she isn't needed on the streets, she seems to be building up some anger for Malcom. The effects of The cure for the Blood lust could be wearing off or she just hates Malcom like everyone else.
Laurel is offered an ADA job and has chosen to give up being the Black Canary. She informs Oliver of her decision and even Captain Lance who tries to talk her out of it. He wants her to still be the Canary. Seems to me she could do more good as the Canary, but Oliver was right they needed someone who could serve Justice in the daylight hours.
By this point Oliver and Diggle are at odds even after Andy had taken an arrow for Oliver he wasn't impressed. Oliver still had his doubts and was right to. Andy Diggle had double crossed Team Arrow and was still working for Darhk. The Team is in Iron Heights, and Darhk has escaped and has a team of prisoners holding the guards captive. Darhk is waiting on his powers to come back and is shot by Thea. He eventually does get his power back and uses them to freeze Oliver and the team in place.
He goes on to focus on Laurel. He begins to tell her about how he had made a promise to Captain Lance and what he intended to do because of his betrayal. Darhk stabs Laurel in the abdomen releases the group and escapes.
Oliver at this point is in a hurry to get Laurel and get her to the hospital. She's losing blood an Oliver is being the hero he knows to be and promises that she's going to be okay. Which in fact we think she is. The doctors save her and say she's going to be okay but we know that's just foreshadowing her death.
The entire team is there in the hospital room. Even Felicity was there. You could see the sadness in all of them but in Oliver it was terrible. He was crying and couldn't hold it together, but it gets worse. Laurel shows Oliver the picture of her he had in season one. The one he would hold onto on the island and look at in the Flashbacks. She tells Oliver that he has always been the lover of her life and wishes him nothing but the best. After that moment we see a team on doctors running to her room and Dinah Laurel Lance was dead. Captain Lance didn't even make it to speak to her. A broken Oliver met him in the hospital hallway. The both broke down and the show ended.
This episode was so sad. Laurel had been on the show since episode one. We were faced again with losing a main character. This time though it was different we could see Oliver and Laurel start to build that relationship that we expected them to have. I hope to see Oliver deal with this in good fashion instead of going off the radar and running away from what has happened. Team Arrow will have to pull together go take out Darhk and overcome this tragedy.
I give this episode a 10/10... The best episode of Arrow I have seen in a while.
